on MTV, and to eat M&Ms chocolate and to listen to the music of
Pink Floyd's music. And just the other day, all this came together beautifully in one, for the 20 year old lad from Vallensbaek south of Copenhagen. Among thousands of contesters Georg Hagstrom was elected the winer of MTV / M&M's competition "Pink Floyd's learning to fly". "Learning to fly" is one of the tracks on the bands most recent album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason". And learning to fly is exactly what Georg Hagstrom is going to. Together with his good friend Brian Nielsen he's heading for two concerts with Pink Floyd. In San Francisco and Seattle- and the trip between these two American west coast cities, will be taken in the bands private jet. The guitarplayer avid Gilmore is a skilled pilot, so he promised to show Georg and Brian how things are handled in a cockpit. Georg watches MTV-EUROPE almost every day. Through the so called Hybrid Net he has access to the top rockstars of the world, case MTV runs music videos around the clock. Georg Hagstrom sent in 28 postcards to the MTV / M&M's Pink Floyd competition, and the other day his card number 22 was pulled up in a live broadcast. Two millions young viewers from nine European countries were watching, and heard the interview with the young Dane, that was called on the phone at his work. He works in a wine wearhouse in Glostrup, and the merry announcement was celebrated in champagne - and then Georg Hagstrom shared M&M's chocolate with his friends. After all it is M&M's that sponsored the competition, says the happy winner, who not yet has attended a concert with his favorite band. Georg Hagstrom got to bring a friend with him, and that was to be Brian Nielsen, who also entered the competition. Together the two youngsters received $ 1.000 in spending money. The Money and tickets were handed over by Maiken Wexø- a former Danish model, now MTV-host in London. She is like the two winners a fan of the exiting music of Pink Floyd. MTV has since August 1. been broadcasting in Europe, and has rapidly gained many regular viewers. Besides from music videos the station offers commercials - among others commercials for M&M's, the worlds most eaten chocolate. |
